70 The great hall, now the lobby, welcomes with surprising verticality. The decorated ceiling draws the gaze upward, while windows frame fragments of garden and sky. Natural light glides along frescoed walls, enhancing their original hues. The furnishings, sober and carefully measured, allow the architecture to breathe. Here waiting becomes experience, and arrival turns into prelude. The Aula Magna preserves a cycle of frescoes dedicated to the theological virtue of Charity. Traditionally attributed to Giovanni da San Giovanni, they have been reconsidered by Professor Clifton Olds, who has proposed a possible attribution to Bernardino Poccetti. THE AULA MAGNA THE LOBBY
