Top Italian Hotels & Resorts 2024
At the end of the historic Via Sistina, just steps away from the Trinità dei Monti, stands this majestic neoclassical palace, inaugurated in 1924 under the name Hotel de la Ville, designed by the Hungarian architect Jozsef Vago. In 2019, the hotel became part of Rocco Forte Collection and underwent a renovation lasting over two years, led by architect Tommaso Ziffer in collaboration with Olga Polizzi, Design Director for Rocco Forte Hotels. The décor takes inspiration from the Grand Tour, which saw Rome as the privileged destination between the 18th and 19th centuries. Art objects, materials, and colors evoke this epic journey. Today, the hotel celebrates this period in a contemporary key while simultaneously offering all the comforts demanded by modern travelers. In addition to the traditional Superior, Premium, and Deluxe rooms, there are a series of suites of great interest for their spaces and terraces with breathtaking views, such as the Canova, the Roma, or the Suite de la Ville, which extends over 103 square meters beyond the 176 square meters of the terrace alone. The F&B offerings are supervised by Fulvio Pierangelini, Creative Director of Food for Rocco Forte Hotels. There are two restaurants: Da Sistina, an elegant bistro that recreates the atmosphere and menus of the district’s trattorias, and Mosaico, whose varied menu draws inspiration from the variety of cultures that made the Roman Empire great: Italian of course, but also European, African, and Middle Eastern. Cielo Terrace Bar, located on the sixth and seventh floors, boasts large spaces and is one of the most magical places in the hotel to admire the fascinating skyline of the Eternal City while sipping a cocktail and nibbling on a small selection of dishes. The recent renovation has introduced a spacious spa: over 550 square meters dedicated to taking care of one’s spiritual, emotional, and physical health. The products used are from Irene Forte Skincare, conceived as a cosmetic transposition of the Mediterranean diet and created using ingredients from the organic farm of the Verdura Resort in Sciacca. This is not the only connection to Sicilian tradition: the thermal area includes a Sicilian salt room, and rituals with mud from the island as well. The central location, classy atmosphere, and excellent service characterize the well-known establishment frequented by those traveling to Rome for business or pleasure. 87/100 c i t y e s c a p e Hotel de la Ville Roma 80
